The Training

The Multimedia training will start with a 6-week online course to teach you the basics of making a multimedia story. Camera techniques, does and don’ts and more. After your online preparations you will continue to one of the two workshops, each of which will last approximately 7-10 days. The place in Africa and date of the workshop are to be announced. Your travel and accommodation will be taken care of by Twenty Ten. During the live workshop you will be further educated in theory and techniques before you will produce your own multimedia production.

Who can apply?

Twenty Ten is a project for professional journalists of African nationality and currently living in Africa. Professional here means either one, or a combination, of the following criteria:

  • That you have a press card and/or
  • That your work has been published regularly in the print media during the past two years and/or
  • That your work has been exhibited or has been published in a book during the previous four years.

If you are employed, you will need to forward a signed letter from your employer granting you permission to participate in the program. (Download here.)

Multimedia training:

This training in the Twenty Ten program particularly focuses on photographers with multimedia experience or other demonstrable interest in multimedia and all ready practicing multimedia journalists.

The application criteria are the following:

  • You must have equipment that enables you to record multimedia stories: minimally a compact camera with a video function with a resolution of at least 640×480 pixels.
  • You should have a demonstrable interest in multimedia or earlier experience with multimedia besides your photography: e.g. radio, video or TV are acceptable.
